An engineer by training, with a diploma from EPF Graduate School of Engineering, Isabelle Blanc also holds a Master in Science from University of Wisconsin and a PhD from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris (now Mines ParisTech). She started her career as an expert in Life-Cycle Assessment at Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques, before being hired by consulting firm BIO Intelligence Service. She later worked as a senior researcher, first at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), then at University of Lausanne (Switzerland). Since 2006, she has been a research team manager at Centre Observation, Impacts, Energie (Mines ParisTech). Her main specialty is environmental assessment of renewable energy industries.
